MONTE CARLO, Monaco -- China won the right Tuesday to host the World's Fair in 2010, another feather in its cap after winning its bid to host the Olympics in 2008.

The fair will be held in Shanghai, a decision Chinese officials welcomed as proof of China's growing stature in the world.

"It's an unforgettable day for China, Shanghai and developing countries," said Chen Liangyu, Shanghai's mayor. "We'll do our utmost to make the 2010 World Expo the best ever."
