Child suffers leg injury in Cape driveway accident

A 5-year-old was struck by a car Sunday afternoon near the 2800 block of Whitener Street. According to Cape Girardeau police Sgt. Rick Schmidt, the child had been playing in the driveway of an apartment complex. A trash container near the edge of the drive obstructed the driver's view of the child, Schmidt said. The victim suffered a leg injury and was transported to a nearby hospital, he said.
