Penzel Construction workers use an excavator to remove rubble as they destroy the Carnegie Library addition Thursday in Cape Girardeau. Once the 1959 addition designed by John Boardman has been removed, the preserved Carnegie Library will be connected to the Common Pleas Courthouse by a new building. The courthouse is being remodeled into a new City Hall.
