A car parked near the Common Pleas Courthouse in Cape Girardeau caught fire shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday. When firefighters arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.

A car parked near the Common Pleas Courthouse in Cape Girardeau caught fire shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday.

When firefighters arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.

It's likely the fire started inside the car not in the engine, said Capt. Dean Lynn with the Cape Girardeau Fire Department.

The car, determined by firefighters to be a total loss, belonged to Carol Kellison, who lives in an apartment building across Lorimier street.
