Published Nov. 1, 1991. A portrait of Dracula appeared to hang from a pillar near center court in the West Park Mall. Actually, Charles Kent of Cape Girardeau dressed in the costume for the mall's Safe Halloween Party. His costume won the "Most Ghostly" first prize. (Southeast Missourian archive)

Published Dec. 18, 1991. Robert W. Foster, executive vice president at Southeast Missouri State University, talked with well-wishers during a reception in his honor at the Show Me Center. Foster retired from the university Dec. 31, after over 24 years of service. (Southeast Missourian archive)

Published Nov. 11, 1976. These four St. Mary's School drummers were among four school bands taking part in the Veterans Day parade in Cape Girardeau this morning. There are, from left, Kevin Ziegler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ziegler; Brian Summers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Summers; Kevin Bullock, son of Mrs. Judy Bullock; and Gina Steimle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Steimle. A number of spectators braved chilly 39-degree weather to watch the 30-unit parade pass by. Many also attended ceremonies following the parade at Houck Field House.
