Published Nov. 3, 1976. Mrs. James B. Bequette shared a happy moment with John C. Dennis as votes for 27th District state senator were tallied Tuesday night at Democratic headquarters in Cape Girardeau. Dennis, Scott County sheriff, won over Cape Girardeau Mayor Howard C. Tooke for the post being vacated in January by Sen. Albert M. Spradling Jr., D-Cape Girardeau.
