Published Jan. 18, 1991. Chet McCain, Cape Girardeau County Park superintendent, put flags surrounding the Veterans Memorial at the county park. Published Oct. 18, 1989. Chris Clemmons, a senior at Cape Central High School, a member of the Central football team and a former May Greene student, read to students at May Greene as part of the Reading Is Fundamental program. Published Jan. 16, 1991. Paul Ebaugh of Cape Girardeau remembered Kuwait as it was when he traveled the Middle East in the 1950s and '60s as president of Cape Construction. He said Kuwait's high standard of living made it the envy of many in the Arab world. (Southeast Missourian archive)

Published Jan. 13, 1991. Bob Fuller, who started Bob's Shoe Service in 1953, retired from the business, turning it over to two of his children. Fuller filled orders for unusual requests in leather crafting over the years, including harnesses for ferrets and Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs. (Southeast Missourian archive)
