Published April 10, 1990. Sen. John Danforth listened as Dr. David Stewart, director of the Center for Earthquake Studies at Southeast Missouri State University, explained what the impact of liquefaction created during an earthquake would have on the terrain in this area. Published April 24, 1986. It certainly wasn't "New Wave" music, but the percussion instruments were modern for a performance by the "Hoover Quartet" during a concert by the Southeast Missouri State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble at University Center. "A Grand, Grand Overture," written nearly 30 years ago by Malcolm Arnold, featured the sounds of vacuum cleaners.
