Published June 22, 1993. Chuck McGinty, a downtown businessman and a member of "The Yes Group," presented the city council with petitions Monday night. The petitions contained 3,720 signatures of residents requesting the riverboat gambling issue be placed on the November ballot. Published Aug. 11, 1993. Lee Strickland of Jackson cleans the soot from the train engine of the St. Louis Iron Mountain & Southern Railway Co. Tuesday. The engine was built in 1946 by the Porter Co. and still operates between Jackson and Delta. The train transports passengers on sightseeing trips to Gordonville, dinner train trips to Dutchtown, and murder-mystery dinner trips to Delta. (Don Shrubshell ~ Southeast Missourian archive)

Published Oct. 5, 1960. Apple butter-making time is here again and members of the W.S.C.S. of Grace Methodist Church, as has been their custom for many years, are making the delicious products in big kettles out in the open air. This photo was made Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.W.
