Published May 25, 1983. The opening of "Return of the Jedi" at Town Plaza Cinema here Wednesday night brought with it its own small galaxy of fans. Over 200 persons attended the first showing, and the cinema management predicts sell-out crowds will continue for a while. Tickets were $4 for adults and $2 for children. Published May 25, 1988. A show of support for the Cape Girardeau Public Schools tax referendum was displayed Tuesday afternoon in the way of a parade down Broadway. The Central High School band led the parade of cars and trucks decorated by various groups in support of the referendum. [Voters approved a 48-cent property tax increase, 55 to 45 percent, which twice before had been rejected.]

Weldon McBride said the total admissions during the day were 408, with 290 boys and 118 girls paying $64.65 to swim.
