Published April 6, 1992. The 10-mile Super Cities Walk for Multiple Sclerosis kicked off at Capaha Park with Cape Girardeau Mayor Gene Rhodes, left, Smiley the Clown and Jackson Mayor Carlton Meyer. Published June 6, 1970. Calvin Chapman, sophomore counselor at Central High School for five years, was pictured studying a huge farewell card presented to him by students during an awards ceremony. Chapman, a member of the Central faculty for nine years, was transferred to the Board of Education office to become director of special services. (Southeast Missourian archive)

Mrs. Dorothy Macke of Jackson received the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee "Friend of Agriculture Award" from Earl James, chairman of the Agriculture Committee. The award was presented at the Area Appreciation Night dinner held Nov. 2, 1978, in the Arena Building. Mrs. Macke was active in 4-H and the Extension Service and helped establish the egg outlet and transportation of dairy products to the St. Louis market. (Southeast Missourian archive)

Charlene Peyton sang spiritual and gospel songs during the American Association of University Women's Hobbies for Fun and Profit workshop at the Centenary United Methodist Family Life Center.
