Cheryl Hillman of Disc Jockey Records held a rap music compact disc with a warning label attached to alert the buyer of possible objectionable material on the album. Such labels weren't really new, but some labels poked fun at those wanting the warnings on the albums. This one read: "Parents strongly cautioned. X rated. Some materials may be X-tra hype and inappropriate for squares and suckers." (Southeast Missourian archive photo)

Responsibility for the operations and maintenance of the Scott City Parks and Recreation Department rested with Penny Wingerter, right, parks director, and William "Bud" Holder, parks superintendent. Behind them was the partially-enclosed Scott City Horseshoe Pavilion, the largest structure of its type between St. Louis and Memphis.
