The woman, Jessica LeGrand, 18, of 127 Paiute Lane, was thrown from the vehicle she was driving after it went out of control. The vehicle struck a ditch and overturned Tuesday about 1:20 a.m.

Cape Girardeau police Sgt. Carl Kinnison said LeGrand's vehicle was equipped with an automatic shoulder strap, but the lap belt wasn't buckled.
LeGrand was pronounced dead at the scene.
