A Cape Girardeau Public Works employee was injured Friday morning when he was struck by a piece of a reinforced steel bar.
The employee was working on a road project on a closed portion of South Sprigg Street that has been compromised by sinkhole activity. Emergency responders declined to give more information about where the employee was struck and the severity of the injuries, but the injured man was conscious and alert with firefighters arrived.
