She is the daughter of Bruce and Jana Jateff of Cape Girardeau.

The pageant is held to raise money for scholarships for needy students in Southeast Missouri.
Jateff is a cheerleader, involved in Pep Club, Spanish Club, FCA, Young Life and is active in her church. She is a junior at Cape Girardeau Central High School.
