POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Jade Ray Samanta, a 7th grader at Trinity Lutheran School in Cape Girardeau, won the 4th annual Regional Spelling Bee on Thursday at Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Jade won 38 rounds and earned first place by correctly spelling the word "patently." He will compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C., in May.
He is the son of Nirmal and Jayanti Ray Samanta of Cape Girardeau.
