A Cape Girardeau home was slightly damaged in a fire Tuesday night. The Cape Girardeau Fire Department was called at 9:27 p.m. to 214 Koch Ave., where the resident reported to firefighters that a fire was in a wall at the back of the house. Minimal damage to the house was found, and there was a slight smoke odor, according to a news release. The resident told firefighters he believed the fire may have been caused by a cigarette.
