Consent Ordinances,

second and third readings

  • Annexed land belonging to Earl and Ruth Ann Norman.
  • Placed stop signs on Sussex Drive and Derbyshire Lane at their intersections with Kent Drive.
  • Granted a special-use permit to Carlos and Emmagene Ratliff for constructing and maintaining a commercial parking lot at 622 N. Sprigg St.
  • Amended the ordinance for advisory boards and the Vision 2020 Community Relations Council.
  • Tabled a special-use permit to Wayfield LLC. for constructing, maintaining and operating a condominium complex between Kingshighway, Boulder Crest Drive, Hunter's Lane and South County Park.

first readings

  • Authorized the acquisition of property for the improvement of Fountain Street between Morgan Oak and William streets.
  • Approved a settlement agreement and binding unilateral agreement with Verizon Wireless relating to business license taxes.
  • Approved the record plat of Villas at Cape Rock 2.
  • Approved the record plat of lot U115 of the Highlands at Dalhousie, phase III.
  • Repealed Chapter 8 of the city code entitled "Cable Communications" and enacting a new Chapter 8 entitled "Video Service Regulation."
  • Authorized the city manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to Addendum No. 2 to the general engineering services agreement with Waters Engineering Inc., for water supply improvements.
  • Authorized the city manager to execute general engineering services agreement for engineering services with Waters Engineering, Inc.

Appointments

  • Reappointed three members of the parks and recreation advisory board: Mike Keefe (chairman), Robert Harris, Rick Fehr. Beverly Evans, assistant professor of recreation at Southeast Missouri State University, was appointed to replace Rocky Hayes, who had reached his term limit. The four will serve until Oct. 29, 2010.
  • Appointed Sarah Stephens to the historic preservation commission. Stephens, who is pursing a degree in historic preservation at Southeast Missouri State University, will serve until April 16, 2008.
  • Reappointed Charlie Haubold and Harry Rediger to the planning and zoning commission. Their current terms expire Nov. 1. Now they will serve until Nov. 1, 2011. Haubold is the commission's chairman.

Liquor licenses

  • Approved a retail liquor by the drink and Sunday sales license for Dianne Delapaz d/b/a Casa Mexicana, 1832 N. Kingshighway.

Other

  • Changed three city council meeting dates for the 2008 calendar year to address legal holiday conflicts: Jan. 21 is moved to Jan. 22; Feb. 18 is moved to Feb. 19; and Sept. 1 is moved to Sept. 2.
