The Cape Girardeau County Commission has rescinded a no-burn order that was issued on May 24, according to a emailed release from the commission. The original order was issued due to dry conditions that prevailed in the area this spring.

The original order was issued due to dry conditions that prevailed in the area this spring.

Lifting the order follows significant rainfall that hit the area Monday as a line of storms passed through. An automated National Weather Service gauge in Cape Girardeau record 0.78 inch of rain on Monday. A gauge at Commerce, Mo., record 1.06 inches.
