Three traffic accidents result in injuries

Four motorists were injured in traffic crashes in the area Friday, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

  • The first occurred Friday afternoon on Highway 25 five miles north of Advance, Mo., when two motorists received serious injuries in a one-car accident. The accident took place when a vehicle driven by 59-year-old Karen Adams of Advance ran off the east side of the roadway and overturned her vehicle. She was transported by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center with serious injuries. Her passenger, 59-year-old Jimmy Ayers of Advance, was taken to Saint Francis by helicopter with serious injuries.
  • A Kentucky man was injured when his vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle driven by a Jackson man on Interstate 55 seven miles north of Cape Girardeau. William T. Redd, 63, received moderate injuries when his pickup truck was struck in the rear by a car driven by 43-year-old Greg Balsman of Jackson, ran of the road and overturned. Redd was transported by helicopter to Saint Francis Medical Center. Citations are pending.
  • A Jackson woman received moderate injuries in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 61, one mile north of Fruitland. Sharon F. Schuessler, 59, was injured when she was attempting to make a left turn in a private drive while a car driven by 23-year-old Zachary R. Young of Jackson was trying to pass. Schuessler was transported by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center.
