CHARLESTON -- A Bertrand man was killed Friday morning when his tractor-trailer missed a turn and turned over off a bridge in Mississippi County.

James O. Byford, 63, was dead at the scene on Mississippi County Road 335 about six miles south of Charleston.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said Byford made a sharp right turn onto a narrow bridge. The trailer axle missed the bridge, causing the tractor-trailer to overturn off the bridge.
