ATV ACCIDENT KILLS BOY, 12

HARVILL -- A 12-year-old boy was killed Thursday in an ATV accident about three miles south of Harvill.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Michael Smody of Neelyville was killed when the 1989 Yamaha 4-wheeler he was driving jumped a dirt pile and overturned on him around 11:55 a.m. on a private drive off Route BB.

A passenger, Shawn Smody, 13, of Neelyville, who was thrown clear of the vehicle was taken to Doctor's Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff with moderate injuries.
