DONIPHAN, Mo. -- The Missouri State Highway Patrol said an Arkansas man drowned while canoeing in the Current River.

The victim was identified as 57-year-old Stephen T. Hill of Paragould, Ark.

The patrol said he drowned Sunday morning when his 16-foot canoe tipped over in the river about 5 miles north of Doniphan, Mo.

Another person in the canoe was able to swim to shore.
