Robert Golden with the Cape Girardeau Public Works sewer/stormwater division sprays mud from the Broadway floodgate entrance Tuesday morning at the Cape Girardeau riverfront. The Broadway and Themis Street floodgates were reopened with the river stage falling to 33.53 feet. The river is forecast to fall to 32.5 feet by Thursday. The Broadway floodgate was closed June 19 as the river was rising, reaching a recent highest level of 37.4 feet July 24. (Fred Lynch)
