Accidents tie up I-55 traffic

Traffic backs up along Interstate 55 north due to several vehicle accidents between the 104 and 105 mile markers Wednesday evening. According to Jackson police officer Cpl. Tony Henson, an initial accident involving two tractor-trailers and a pickup truck on the southbound lanes led to several additional accidents because of unexpected traffic congestion in the southbound lanes and distracted drivers traveling past the accident in the northbound lanes.
