Power was out briefly Wednesday morning for about 5,500 Ameren customers in Cape Girardeau due to a truck hitting a pole containing a switch.
Ameren spokesman Mike Cleary said a truck backed into a pole near the intersection of Independence Street and Minnesota Avenue at 8:08 a.m., causing a widespread outage in the center of town and momentary outages elsewhere. Crews repaired the switch and repaired the outage in less than 20 minutes.
