"Olive Trees," an oil painting by Jan Chamberlain, won best of show among the 52 paintings and photographs in the 17th annual "Art for the Health of It" exhibit Sunday at Southeast Hospital. Sponsored by the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri and SoutheastHEALTH, the exhibit will remain open through April 26 outside the first-floor surgical waiting room. The project is based on the theory that the arts can enhance the quality of life for all individuals. According to a placard at the exhibit, "Art can support and nourish that part of us which medicine and surgery alone cannot touch." (Fred Lynch)
