JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Two Missouri swimming beaches will be closed because of high levels of E. coli bacteria.

The Department of Natural Resources said Wednesday it was closing Public Beach No. 1 at the Lake of the Ozarks. The other, Grand Glaize Beach, will remain open.

The agency said the beach at northeast Missouri's Wakonda State Park is also being closed.

The beaches will remain closed until bacteria levels drop. Environmental officials took the water samples Monday.
