The Missouri Dental Association Foundation received a $45,000 contribution to support Missouri Mission of Mercy, a large-scale dental clinic scheduled for May 3 and 4 at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau. The grant will work to provide free oral health care to 2,200 to 2,400 Missourians who cannot otherwise afford such care. Dr. Janet Ruopp, a Cape Girardeau dentist who is serving as the local community chairwoman, said 200 dentists and more than 1,000 other volunteers will be involved in the two-day clinic. The grant was presented to Ruopp and to Paul Roberts, director of advocacy and outreach for MDA, during a check presentation ceremony at the Walmart Supercenter in Cape Girardeau. For more information, contact Ruopp at 334-8884 or jruopp@charter.net.
