Kage FCE Club awarded Charlotte Schaffner its annual spring semester scholarship. Schaffner graduated in December from Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in diatetics. The proceeds from this year's Tour de Shawnee were given to the local not-for-profit organizations and other events in Alexander County. ACT president Evelyn Caldwell presented checks to each organization with the purpose of helping with the cost and expenses.
Debbie Goins, left, president of the Thebes Historical Society, accepted a check for $1,000 from Caldwell.
Monica Smith, right, director of the Cairo Public Library, accepted a check for $500 from Caldwell.
The Egyptian Student Council, left, and the Junior Beta Club accepted a check for $250 from Caldwell. The groups helped with the registration. The funds will assist the student council and the club with bills and a trip for the club.
The Horseshoe Lake Fire Department was provided a check for $125, and the Horseshoe Lake Chamber of Commerce was given a check of $100.
