ACCOMPLISHMENTS

* Eliza Mary Holcomb, daughter of Paul and Nancy Holcomb of Cape Girardeau, competed in the 2011 Miss Teen of Missouri Scholarship and Recognition Pageant.

* Caleb Eugene Newcomer of Jackson was recognized on Sept. 14 at the General Assembly of the Missouri House of Representatives. He was invited based on his leadership at the 72nd session of the Missouri Boys State. He was selected to Missouri Boys State based on his school and community involvement, academic standing and leadership skills, and was asked to return as a camp counselor on the legislative staff. He plans to return to Missouri Boys State in June as a staff member. A senior at Jackson High School who intends to major in political science followed by a graduate school with a law degree, he is a member of the varsity basketball team, lettering three years and being named best teammate for 2010-2011; is on the A Honor Roll; and participates in the fall drama, Athletes in Action, High Step and A plus tutoring. He is the son of Daniel and Lisa Newcomer and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Huttegger, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Gluesing, and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Newcomer.
