Joshua Sander has been selected as a National Merit Scholar and as a Missouri Scholars 100 recipient for 2013. To be selected as a National Merit Finalist, Sander had to earn a score on the SAT that less than 1 percent of the students who took the 2013 SAT globally earned.
To be selected as a Missouri Scholars 100 recipient, Joshua scored high on a rigorous academic rubric developed by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals that distinguished those selected as among the top 100 high school graduates from a total Missouri graduation class of approximately 60,000 students. Sander, Cape Girardeau Central High School's valedictorian in 2013, is the son of Lisa and David Sander and plans to attend Union University in Jackson, Tenn., where he will study Business Administration with a concentration in economics.
Lynda Jones of Sedgewickville, Mo., has been awarded the fall 2013 Southeast Missouri District Fair Foundation Scholarship. Jones, currently employed at Baker Implement, is a senior at Southeast Missouri State University and plans to be an agriculture teacher. She is the daughter of Debbie White.
Lauren E. Lamb of Cape Girardeau was named to the Dean's Academic Honor List for the spring 2013 semester at Baylor University. Lamb is a student in Baylor's College of Arts and Sciences. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must be an undergraduate with a minimum grade-point average of 3.7 while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours. Baylor University is a private Christian university in Waco, Texas.
