Myriah Bernard of Jackson is the recipient of a $1,500 scholarship from Scholarships for Military Children. Bernard's school activities included volleyball, cheerleading, track and field, class government and FCCLA. Bernard plans to attend William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo. She is the daughter of Juan and Barbara Bernard. Applicants for Scholarships for Military must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average, participate in voluntary school and community activities, demonstrate leadership qualities and write a lengthy essay.
Logan Mangels, a senior at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo., was awarded with a $500 scholarship to further his education by the Missouri Independent Bankers Association. Mangels is majoring in accounting/finance and marketing at Central Methodist, and he completes his coursework online. Mangels is a full-time employee at Buchheit's in Jackson and is the son of Lowell and Diane Mangels of Friedheim.
Rachel Gruenwald of Altenburg, Mo., recently received a scholarship from the Women Legislators of Missouri. Gruenwald was one of eight recipients -- one from each of the eight congressional districts in the state -- to receive a scholarship from the organization. Gruenwald graduated from Saxony-Lutheran High School this year.
Jonathan Hecht of Frohna, Mo., and Jeanie Rhodes of Cape Girardeau graduated from William Woods University on June 11. Hecht received a Bachelor of Science and Rhodes received a master's degree in business administration. William Woods University is in Fulton, Mo.
