Scholarships

* The following students have been awarded scholarships to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2012-2013 academic year: Sydney Scherer of Jonesboro, Ill., received the Community College Scholarship and Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship; Victoria Taylor of Jackson received the Community College Scholarship.

* Mineral Area College student Rebecca Brown of Park Hills, Mo., received a $500 MO-KAN-NE Scholarship for the fall 2012 semester., E

* Adam Lichenegger of Frohna, Mo., was named as a Missouri Geographic Bee Semifinalist by the National Geographic Society.

* Dustin Peetz of Cape Girardeau and Dustin Oehl of Oak Ridge were named the 2012 Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens.

* Adam Brown of Jackson received the State Future Farmers of America Degree, the highest degree a member can receive at the state level.
