* Adam Brown of Jackson and Bridget Schumer of Perryville, Mo., were among 30 high school sophomores statewide selected to participate in the 2011 Missouri Agribusiness Academy. Brown is a student at Jackson High School, and Schumer attends Perryville High School. The Missouri Department of Agriculture gives 30 high school students the opportunity to explore careers in agriculture through the academy -- a competitive membership for sophomores interested in pursuing agriculture-related college degrees and careers. This year, the students will visit Columbia, Jefferson City and Kansas City, June 6 to 10. They will visit the University of Missouri, the Missouri State Capitol and agribusinesses specializing in animal health, communications, sales and financial management. The students will be recognized today for their acceptance into the academy during the Missouri FFA Association annual convention in Columbia.
The following students received scholarships to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2011-2012 school year:
* Nicholas N. Wallhausen of Jackson received the Missouri Leadership Award for 2011-2012.
* LeeAnna C. Reagan of Patton, Mo., received the President's Scholarship for 2011-2012.
* Brittany N. Lillibridge of Cape Girardeau received the Missouri Leadership Award for 2011-2012.
* John M. Brucker of Chaffee, Mo., received the Regent's Scholarship for 2011-2012.
* Danielle N. Fultz of Puxico, Mo., received the Regent's Scholarship for 2011-2012.
* Ryan D. Taylor of Jackson received the Regent's Scholarship for 2011-2012.
* Kristen L. Koper of Washington, Mo. received the Missouri Leadership Award for 2011-2012.
* Tanner R. Werner of Jackson received the President's Scholarshiop for 2011-2012.
* Ethan M. Siemer of Friedheim, Mo., received the Regent's Scholarship for 2011-2012.
* Bobby G. Clark of Jackson received the President's Plus Scholarship and the Missouri Leadership Award for 2011-2012.
* Corey Rogers of Scott City received the Regent's Scholarship for 2011-2012.
