Awards/achievements and scholarships

The following local students have been awarded scholarships to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2013-2014 academic year:

* Joshua Aspen of Cobden, Ill., was awarded the Regents' Scholarship. He is the son of Kent and Jennifer Aspen of Cobden and will graduate from Cobden High School.

* Cheyenne Lingle of Millersville, Mo., was awarded the University Scholarship. She is the daughter of Lindell Lingle and Theresa Schultz, both of Anna, Ill., and will graduate from Jackson Senior High School.

* Kaitlyn McQuay of Jackson was awarded the University Scholarship. She is the daughter of Don and Joy McQuay and Robin McQuay, all of Jackson, and will graduate from Jackson Senior High School.

* Dwight Nance of Whitewater was awarded the Regents' Scholarship. He is the son of Chris and Jeanna Nance of Whitewater and will graduate from Delta High School.

* Emily Ray of Fredericktown, Mo., was awarded the University Scholarship and Residence Life Leadership Award. She is the daughter of Herbert and Carol Ray of Fredericktown and will graduate from Fredericktown High School.

* Luke Stevens of Cape Girardeau was awarded the University Scholarship and Residence Life Leadership Award. He is the son of Brian and Vanessa Stevens of Jackson and Beth Stevens of Cape Girardeau and will graduate from Jackson High School.

* Kaitlin Gerharz of Jonesboro, Ill., was awarded the University Scholarship and Midwest Achievement Award. She is the daughter of Melissa Shaffar of Jonesboro and will graduate from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School in Anna, Ill.

* Tayler Gruenke of Fredericktown, Mo., was awarded the University Scholarship and Residence Life Leadership Award. She is the daughter of Danny Gruenke of Fredericktown and will graduate from Fredericktown High School.
