SCHOLARSHIPS

Kyle Gilhaus of Cape Girardeau and Wesley Weber of Jackson have been awarded a MAP Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University next year.

Kimberlie Hester of Chaffee, Mo., and Olimjon Mardanov of Cape Girardeau have been awarded a Missouri Leadership Award and a MAP Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University next school year.

Whitney Tankersley of Jackson has been awarded a Regents' Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University next year.

Marissa Howell, a student at Three Rivers Community College, received a scholarship from the National Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs.

Catherine Moreton and Claire Segar of Cape Girardeau and Kyle Sutherlin of Jackson made the dean's list at Washington University in St. Louis for the fall 2007 semester.

Stephen Baughn of Cape Girardeau and Bret Whitaker of Chaffee made the chancellor's and dean's list at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville for the fall 2007 semester.

Shanda Steinnerd, a Leopold High School graduate, made the dean's list at Sullivan University in Louisville, Ky., last semester.

SCHOOL NEWS

Teachers' Insurance Plan is accepting nominations through April 30 for the Missouri Teacher of the Year, which comes with a $1,000 award and $500 grant for the school. Nominations are available at www.teachers.com/toty.

A Jackson Junior High School bingo night has been rescheduled to 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 28 in the cafeteria. Money will go toward sending Supporting Our School members to a conference in November.

The Saint Francis Foundation and Auxiliary will award $1,000 scholarships to 22 students who have completed one year of an accredited health-care program. Applications are due by 4:30 p.m. June 6. Call 331-5994 to obtain an application and for scholarship guidelines.
