Awards/Achievements and Scholarships

The following local students have been awarded scholarships to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2013-2014 academic year:

* Nathaniel Chandler of Sikeston, Mo., was awarded the University Scholarship. He is the son of John and Christy Chandler of Sikeston and will graduate from Scott County Central High School in Sikeston.

* Erin Welker of Marble Hill, Mo., was awarded the Regents' Scholarship. She is the daughter of Don and Juanita Welker of Marble Hill and will graduate from Meadow Heights High School in Patton, Mo.

* Myles Ezell of Glenallen, Mo., was awarded the Regents' Scholarship. He is the son of Don and Margie Ezell of Glenallen and will graduate from Woodland High School in Marble Hill, Mo.

* Carly Lorenz of Jackson was awarded the Regents' Scholarship. She is the daughter of Curtis and Debby Lorenz of Jackson and will graduate from Saxony Lutheran High School in Jackson.

* Molly Whitener of Jackson was awarded the Regents' Scholarship. She is the daughter of Dewayne and Carolyn Whitener of Jackson and will graduate from Jackson Senior High School.

Nina Scheibe of Cape Girardeau was named to the honor roll for the fall 2012 semester at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan. She is the daughter of John and Erika Scheibe of Cape Girardeau. Scheibe is a senior and studying music.

Robbins named to dean's list

Danielle Robbins of Cape Girardeau was named to the St. Louis College of Pharmacy dean's list for the fall 2012 semester. She is the daughter of Eric and Cathy Robbins of Cape Girardeau.

Coleman, Hayward named to dean's list

Two area students were named to Northern Illinois University, in Dekalb, Ill., dean's list for the fall 2012 semester.

* Samantha Coleman of Jonesboro, Ill.

* Mason Hayward of Cobden, Ill.

Scholarship deadline set for April 1

A $1,000 scholarship is offered to a female nontraditional student who attends, or plans to attend, Three Rivers College and take a full-time course load. The scholarship is granted in segments of $500 per semester and is contingent on maintenance of an acceptable grade-point average. Applications are due April 1. Applicants are required to write a brief essay. The scholarship is based on merit and need. Application forms are available from the scholarship counseling offices at Three Rivers College or by writing to DWF Scholarships, PO Box 104, Poplar Bluff, Mo, 63902.
