Honors, achievements

* Nathan Kaminskas, a third-grade student at Woodland Elementary School, won the 2010 Children's Arts Council Award. His artwork will hang in state Rep. Shelley Keeney's office for a year.

* Oak Ridge Elementary School honor roll:

4th grade: Brianna Amschler, Jordan Barker, Kaylee Dixon, Brianna Harrison, Jordan Layton, Amanda Meyer, Coltin Reimann, Travis Sides, Cody Strop.

* Grace Blades of Cape Girardeau was named on the fall dean's list of Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Ill.

* Stephen Baughn of Cape Girardeau was named to the fall chancellor's list at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark.

* Joseph Wiginton of Jackson was named on the fall dean's list at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

* Mia Russell of Cape Girardeau was named a Cardinal Scholar Athlete for the fall 2009 semester at William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo.

* Chelsea Seyer, Julie Aufdenberg, Sarah Wichern, Kelly Jahn and Tyler Lappe attended the state 4-H Teen Conference in Columbia, Mo., earlier this month.

* The following Southeast Missouri State University students were selected to participate in a five-day seminar in Washington, D.C., to learn about business, environment and politics at the Center for Strategic and International Studies: William L. Harris, James H. Swift Jr., Taylor B. Busch, all of Jackson; Vandana Grewal, Bailey L. Reutzel, Carl A. Pogue and Amanda L. Lemonds, all of Cape Girardeau.
