Honors, achievements

* Daniel Johnson and Maddie Rupke, both of Jackson, received the American FFA degree at the National FFA convention in Indianapolis. Rupke is studying agribusiness and animal science, and Johnson is studying agribusiness and agriculture education at Southeast Missouri State University.

* Matt Flanagan, Nina Scheibe and Casey Irvine were named to the All-State Band. Josh Wen was named to the All-State Orchestra. The Cape Girardeau Central High School students will play at the Missouri Music Educators Association convention.

* Adam LeGrand of Central High School earned the Eagle Scout rank. He built a rope railing and cleared debris along the Chateau Girardeau nature trail.

* Stephanie Ross of Benton, Mo., received the Arthur and Alice Langmeier Scholarship for fall 2009 at the University of Missouri in Columbia.

* Emily Ruch of Daisy, Mo., received a Regents' scholarship.

* Brandon Liebeknecht of Millersville and Hannah Hamilton of Cape Girardeau each received a Missouri Assessment Program Scholarship.

* Kacie Ritter of Cape Girardeau received a Community College Scholarship.

* Wayne Dierker of Lonedell, Mo., received a President's Scholarship, a Missouri Leadership Award and a Missouri Assessment Program Scholarship.
