Cape Girardeau Public Schools sixth graders walked away with the first place prize in the recent Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl in competition with 22 teams from other schools. This is the fifth time in the past eight years that Cape Public Schools sixth graders have placed first, in addition to one second place win.
Students must read and answer correctly, within one minute, a multiple-choice question that is flashed on a computer screen. Quiz Bowl covers the areas of math, geography, government, sports, spelling, science, literature, English, history and general information.
The team is part of Tanda Smith's Explore 56 class, and includes Max Abbott, Mackenzie Cannon, Zack Clark, Jackie Crawford, Raleigh Davis, Dymond Gardner, Alex Gentle, Elizabeth Green, Ryan Helle, Luc Helwege, Emily Holman, Melissa Hopkins, Alec Hutson, Maya Kelch, George Kester, Luke Kinder, Lexie McClanahan, Josh Morse, Christian Retter, Winnie Smee, Abby Sundstrom, Bridget Trepasso and Teressa Valleroy.
