The Rev. Karen Dumey, a native of Jackson, is the new designated pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1820 Perryville Road in Cape Girardeau. Dumey's first day as pastor of the congregation of 100 members was Aug. 1. Dumey was officially installed to serve in her role during a Sept. 21 ceremony. For the past four years, Dumey has served as the designated pastor of a rural church near Springfield, Ill., but returned to Southeast Missouri so she could be closer to family and friends. A graduate of Jackson High School, Dumey holds degrees from Southeast Missouri State University and Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves, Mo.
