Rita Walter of Cape Girardeau graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy during ceremonies held May 22. Walter received her Bachelor of Science degree in marine and environmental sciences. She will begin her service in the Coast Guard with the rank of ensign and will serve aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Aspen as a deck-watch officer. Walter, a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School, is the daughter of Joan and Delbert Walter. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy is located in New London, Conn.
