Members of the Velo Girardeau Bicycle Club recently rode 1,400 miles collectively during the annual Horseshoe Lake Century Ride.

Eighteen members of the club met Sept. 29 for their annual 100-mile ride.

Steve Dain of Olive Branch, Ill., served as the host for the ride, allowing members to use his home as the headquarters.

The youngest participant in the ride was Julie Langenfeld, 12, who rode 32.5 miles.

Linton Luetje, 63, was the senior member of the group. He won the trophy for finishing the 100 miles.

Eight members of the club finished the ride. Jim BeBlois rode the most miles -- 200 -- for the day.

All together, the club members rode 1,444 miles.
