One pair of donated shoes serves two purposes? provides affordable footwear and clean, fresh water. Shoeman Water Projects is a project of Eagle Wings Ministries, a not-for-profit charity. Shoeman Water Projects picks up donated used and new shoes year round from businesses, churches, schools, special events and shoe drives. Once collected, George "the Shoeman" Hutchings gives the shoes a second life by selling them to exporters around the world where people need affordable shoes. The money the Shoeman receives is used to purchase well drilling rigs, water purification systems and other supplies to bring clean, fresh water to those who thirst. To donate your shoes drop them off at the Cape Baptist Association building near the Jackson-Cape Girardeau Interstate 55 exit. For more information, visit www.shoeman.org.
