Two Cape Girardeau Girl Scout volunteers honored

Cape Girardeau volunteers Lori Powderly and Gail Timpe received awards at the first Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland meeting last month in Branson, Mo. Powderly, who has been a Girl Scout troop leader at two schools for the past five years, was recognized with the Girl Scout Appreciation Pin for her positive mentorship of girls and for her efforts to increase the visibility of Girl Scouting. Girl Scouts volunteer Gail Timpe, who also volunteers with two Girl Scout troops, was awarded the Girl Scout Honor Pin. Timpe, who is a lifetime member of Girl Scouts, was applauded for her positive attitude and her extensive efforts in coordinating events for Girl Scouts in Cape Girardeau. Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland serves 20,000 girls in 68 counties and helps Girl Scouts develop life skills so they can make wise choices.
