Photographing nature can be time-consuming. Hours often pass with little or no success at achieving a worthwhile photo.
This time of year, temperatures can be hot and you will sweat. Be sure to take drinking water along.
Anyone who walks in the Southeast Missouri woods during hot summer days can expect to pick up chiggers and ticks.
Deer flies, gnats and mosquitoes may constantly bother you. Spiders and their webs may cause you to cancel your outdoor trip.
But as you can see by this photo of a wild turkey hen providing a ride for one of her chicks, the reward sometimes can be quite awesome.
This photo was taken by my daughter. What a nice camera shot!
