On Oct. 17, the Perryville High School Marching Buccaneers, under the direction of Jay Peters and Eric Seibel, competed in a marching competition in Park Hills, Mo. In the preliminary round, the Buccaneers placed first in the class 3A division and won trophies for outstanding auxiliary and outstanding music. By winning first place in their division, the Buccaneers were invited to compete a second time in the final round against the top schools in the competition, including several class 4A, 5A, and 6A bands. After the finals round, the band placed 11th overall. The Marching Buccaneers finished their competitive season Oct. 24 in the Ste. Genevieve Marching Festival. Despite having 18 students missing because of the flu, Perryville still managed to place fourth in its class. Pictured are the senior band members with their recent trophies.
