The season may be winding down, but team spirit continues to rise high in Scott City, thanks to the Scott City varsity cheerleading squad. There isn't a senior on this 10-member cheer team, but new coach Katie Sparks said there's more than enough dedication.
"They love to cheer, and they work very hard and don't complain," Sparks said.
Today meet junior Erika Medlin, a senior member of the cheer squad.
Years on the team: 3
Position: Flier
Why do you like cheerleading? I like pumping up the crowd and being out on the floor doing cheers and dances.
What's your funniest or most memorable cheerleading experience? Doing the "Thriller" dance at a pep rally in front of everybody. We had to learn the dance step by step. We thought it would be funny. When we went out there and did it, everyone loved it and everyone laughed. We wore black pants and black T-shirts and a white glove, like Michael Jackson.
What's your favorite stunt? The Liberty.
What's your favorite movie? "Fired Up!"
What's your favorite food? Lasagna.
Who do you look up to? I look up to my mom and my dad. They are the two most important people to me.
What do YOU want to do after high school? I want to go into the medical field and be a radiology technician.
What advice would you give young cheerleaders? Just be peppy, be able to pump up the crowd and don't be shy.
