Blonde hardwood flooring and custom-made cabinetry create warmth inside this brick ranch-style home in Cape Girardeau.
Five-paned bay windows facing the front allow light to fill the formal living room/dining area, and adjoining rooms. Light neutral carpeting covers the square front living area.
Ceiling fans keep utility bills down in the summer. The one in the dining room keeps air moving between living room and kitchen.
To the right of the dining room is one step down into an office area with French doors to the wood deck. A baby gate between the office and the dining room creates a safe playing area for children or temporary enclosure for pets.
The dining room leads into the kitchen. Flooring in the kitchen and office is cream-colored, 12-inch ceramic tile. In the office the tile is parallel to the walls, but in the kitchen it is placed diagonally. A stained glass lamp hangs in the entryway to the office, and a ceiling fan circulates air in the office area.
Light, warm-colored Corian kitchen countertops blend with an abundance of custom-made oak cabinets. Some kitchen cabinets are free-standing, but stay with the house. All wood work is new.
A Corian-covered island in the middle of the kitchen provides storage space inside, and room for a couple of chairs outside. Behind the island, the long counter space stretches over the built-in dishwasher below and under more cabinetry. To the left of the counter is a light-colored side-by-side refrigerator.
This kitchen features perpendicular aluminum sinks in the right-hand corner of with a pewter-like single faucet in between. Windows over the sinks face the shady back yard.
On the right side of the kitchen, the microwave above the stove is flanked and topped with new hand-built cabinets. More blonde cabinet space extends below the countertops on both sides of the stove.
Adjoining the kitchen to the left and in a corner is the family room with a fireplace. A ceiling fan is overhead. From the family room, maple stairs leading to the finished basement are illuminated by track lighting.
Two front bedrooms are medium-sized with deep closets, ceiling fans, picture windows and light neutral-colored carpeting.
During a recent renovation of the house, an expanded bathroom was added to the private master suite. Included were a Jacuzzi and ceramic tile flooring. A window is above the tub, and the sink is in the corner of the bathroom. The master bedroom includes a ceiling fan and a walk-in closet.
In the hall are a coat closet in front and a linen closet between the two front bedrooms. The hall bathroom has a shower with opaque glass doors and a white sink atop a tall, porcelain stand.
The finished basement contains a partially-completed wet bar, a large laundry room, a half bath and a storage room. French doors exit from the carpeted living area to the patio. Drop tile covers the vent work, and heating and cooling ducts manage climate control.
A treated wood deck, shaded by an oak tree, overlooks a green back yard bordered by a white picket fence. Below is a flowerbed with landscaping around the stone slab path from the deck. Three levels of garden stand between the path and the deck.
Remodeled inside and out, the front and sides of this home are brick, while the back is vinyl. The front door contains an oval cut glass window, inlaid with a gold-colored material.
Landscaping surrounds two big shade trees in the front yard and lines the entryway of the house. Decorative grass line the back and blue flowers with long striped leaves accent the front.
